Business Development Director
Bob has over 30 years’ experience working in the UK gas industry, working in a wide range of roles and responsibilities designing, constructing, commissioning and managing natural gas infrastructure and pipeline projects as the client, the consultant and as a contractor.
Bob joined West Midlands Gas in 1980 as a trainee draughtsman in the Regional Design and Construction office, progressing through various roles in transmission and distribution design, construction, operations and commissioning of pipelines, plant and all type of installations, reaching the role of Senior Design and Project Manager by the mid 1990’s.
In 1995 Bob transferred to the Transco Network Development Team as the Technical Engineer developing policies and procedures for all connection activities to the National and Local Transmission Systems and originated, wrote and published the NTS Policy for Exit Connections. He also developed and managed the technical policies for eight Transco Districts including education, philosophy, planning and construction for all large projects. He developed new potential business in the power station market place with power station developers such as Powergen and National Power.
From 1998 – 2005 Bob was responsible for the business development of a new BG Business unit in the ‘unregulated’ market place BG Opsco (latterly Lattice Energy Ervices). Introduced new customers to the gas business and developed their transportation and connection requirements and managed the introduction of 3rd party Transco maintenance into the market place.
As Regional Manager – Service Delivery, for the “out of area” connections business of United Utilities in 2005/06, Bob was responsible for business development within the West Midlands, Wales and South West of England, managing all project development for projects within area from initial conception through to completion and handover. Managed all aspects of financial, risk and business viability reports for all gas related projects and delivering technical and commercial consultancy to clients in energy market.
Bob joined Mouchel Pakman in 2006 as Senior Project Manager for several large multi-discipline Design Contracts with National Grid Tier 1 Contractors, also acting as the Clients Project Manager for the construction of the new 24” high pressure natural gas pipeline to the Isle of Grain Power Station in Kent. Responsible for the management of the construction, cost control, records, testing, leading and co-ordinating several key stakeholders and third parties.
In 2007 Bob was appointed as Commercial and Business Development Director for Mouchel Energy, and as part of the Energy Management Team was responsible for all aspects of bidding, proposals, tenders, commercial contracts and negotiations, growth, marketing and business development.
Bob then joined Jacobs UK Limited in 2011 as Head of Gas Delivery, the Divisional Director responsible for the Gas and Carbon Team. He led all aspects and areas of the business unit to provide clients with a complete range of individually tailored services, as well as supporting the team in technical and commercial issues, and managing and delivering “client’s expectations” across various design services frameworks.
Bob joined CNG Services Limited in 2014 as Business Development Director to assist in growing and developing the UK’s fastest growing CNG, Biomethane and Shale Gas consultancy and delivery business.
Bob is an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with the Engineering Council and a Member of the Institution of Gas Engineers (MIGEM).
